Hemraj, born in 1969 in New Delhi, is an Indian artist trained at the College of Art, New Delhi (1987–1993). Originally trained as a painter, he has since expanded his practice to include sculpture and photography. Working primarily in oil, Hemraj is known for large-scale compositions characterized by restrained, monochromatic palettes and subdued tones such as indigo blue, olive green, dusty pink, and earthy browns. His work draws conceptual inspiration from Sufism, reflecting themes of devotion, spirituality, and transcendence. He has held several solo and group exhibitions at leading galleries including Dhoomimal, Jehangir Art Gallery, Delhi Art Gallery, Alliance Française de Delhi, and India Habitat Centre, and his works have been auctioned at Bonhams.
