Ranbir Kaleka (b. 1953)
Ranbir Kaleka is a multimedia artist known for blending painting with video to explore themes of tradition, sexuality, and the human-animal connection. Trained as a painter, his immersive works animate canvases into cinematic narratives. Internationally exhibited, he represented India at the 51st Venice Biennale and was featured in Kapital and Karma at Kunsthalle, Vienna. In 2007, he created Consider, a powerful Holocaust memorial installation for the Spertus Museum, Chicago.
Kaleka received the National Award from the President of India in 1979 and the Punjab Gaurav Sanmaan in 2019, solidifying his place as a key voice in contemporary Indian art. The artist lives and works in New Delhi, India.
