Vrindavan Solanki, born in 1942 in Junagadh, Gujarat, is a prolific Indian artist recognized internationally for his evocative works. He earned his Diploma in Painting and Post Diploma in Graphics from M.S. University, Baroda, in 1980 and 1982.
Solanki’s art captures the men and women of Gujarat in everyday village life, using light and shadow to create striking, surreal compositions. He omits facial details while emphasizing traditional attire, giving his figures a timeless presence.
He served as visiting faculty at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, and was a member of the Lalit Kala Academy, Gujarat. His works have been exhibited widely, including solo shows at Jehangir Art Gallery, Taj Art Gallery, and internationally in Mauritius, New York, and Hong Kong.
